Why ECE Centres Trust On To It Health & Safety

Let’s be honest — after being in a classroom with 70 preschoolers on a rainy day, or caring for five babies at once, it takes a lot to faze me. I’ve seen the chaos, the creativity, and the countless “what ifs” that come with keeping children safe.

I’m Ariana (Aria) Carson, founder of On To It Health and Safety. My journey into health and safety has been anything but straight — and that’s exactly what makes it work.

My ECE Background

I hold a Bachelor of Teaching and Learning and started my career first as a nanny before working early childhood teacher. I learned how to create safe, engaging spaces and stay calm under pressure (even when things got messy — literally).

When COVID hit, I pivoted into the office of our family plumbing company, managing operations, admin, and compliance. It was there I first noticed how much small businesses struggle with health and safety, and how overwhelming it can feel — especially without support or guidance.

In 2022, I undertook my first H&S qualification — the NZ Certificate in Workplace Health and Safety Practice — just to make sure our business was compliant. What I didn’t expect was to find a genuine passion for it. Since then, I’ve added a Graduate Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety Management and a Postgraduate Diploma in Health Science (Occupational Health and Safety).

Why On To It Health and Safety

I launched On To It Health and Safety in 2024 to support small businesses and industries I care about — including early childhood education. My goal is to make H&S practical, realistic, and achievable, without adding to the already overwhelming paperwork.

ECE centres trust us because I’ve been on the floor in classrooms, managing children, and seeing first-hand the realities and risks of daily operations. I know what it takes to keep children and staff safe, while still allowing learning, creativity, and fun to happen.

Here’s how I can help ECE centres:

  • Health & Safety Audits and Gap Assessments – tailored to your centre’s environment.

  • Documentation Reviews & Mentoring – keeping you compliant without drowning in paperwork.

  • Ongoing Support – building a lasting safety culture for children, staff, and families.

I understand the realities of managing a centre, supervising children, and balancing compliance with real life. My approach is practical, supportive, and focused on solutions that actually work — not just ticking boxes.
