Based in Christchurch, New Zealand, Aria Carson is the founder of On To It Health & Safety — a practical health and safety consultancy supporting trades, construction businesses, and early childhood education (ECE) centres across New Zealand.
Aria is a qualified teacher with hands-on experience in early childhood education and her family’s plumbing business, and brings formal health and safety knowledge alongside practical, on-the-ground experience in both sectors.
Through working in both sectors, one issue became clear:
Health and safety systems often don’t reflect how work actually happens.
In ECE centres, that shows up as compliance overload and constant pressure on staff. In construction and trades, it shows up as time pressure, workarounds, and systems that don’t always fit the reality of the site.
